Jo Taylor’s elegant ceramic forms offer suggestions of organic growth, fragmentation, fragility, rigidity and fluidity. Originally inspired by decorative ornament seen in plaster ceilings, carved stone or wrought iron, the works incorporate similar notions of depth, shadow and grandiose flourish.

Technically challenging the structures are a product of process and assembly, combining the use of the potters wheel with innovative hand building techniques. The resulting works retain a sense of speed and rhythm from the marks made: directional, repetitive, sequential, connected.

All pieces are made from a combination of throwing and hand building techniques.
